The former Regional Sales Manager’s boss, let’s call him the Director of Sales, is now in the position of working more hours (or having one of his other Regional Sales Managers work longer hours) in order to manage the now leaderless team.

Obviously, it is the Director of Sales; yet the resumes of many qualified candidates are routinely ignored or knocked at the first stage of screening and never make it to the actual Manager of the Department with the posted position.
